Stance Interview with Gisela Pulido

First of all, congrats for the big move with the BEST team! It’s big news!

- Thanks! I’m very excited!

What gear are you going to be riding?

- I’m going to use the Best GP. As you know I’m riding freestyle and competing in the PKRA World Tour. This kite is the best one that will fulfill all my needs. The first time I saw the GP I was very surprised, it looked super nice. Then I start investigating and I realized it had my initial! I could believe that! And finally, I had the chance to try it, and I was totally amazed. 

In your interview with Best, you talk about your frienship with Micheal Schitzofer. Anyone else in particular you are looking forward to ride with in the BEST team?

- I also have a good relationship with Rui Meira and Kristin Boese.  There are other riders in the team I know but that I haven’t seen in a long time like Miguel Willis, Kris Kinn and Leander Vivey. Would be cool to ride with them soon!

Any specific stop you are looking forward to in the 2012 PKRA tour? Any one you are not?

- I’m looking forward to the stop in Tarifa. There are many possibilities that this event will happen. Since 2009 there are no competitions in my homespot. I’m really excited about this stage of the tour, feels really good to ride at home because all your friends are cheering and you are very used to the conditions.

Do you think any dynamic in the tour will change this year?

- Yes I do. The judging is going to change because we want to implant an electronic system to score the heats so everyone will be able to follow the competitions and understand everything. The tricks will be scored with numbers, you will have a limitation of attempts and after the total points will be add up.

What was the biggest highlight of 2011 in your riding? (let me guess… winning the 8^th world title?)

- In a sports level yes, but personally, the biggest highlight of last year was being recognized by one of the biggest magazines as one of the most admired persons in Spain together with an important doctor, model and the vice-president of my country.

 

For all the wakestyle lovers out there, are there any chances to see Gisela Pulido riding in boots in 2012? How do you think your style will evolve?

- I like boots. I’m just not so good at it! But is one of my objectives for 2012 J

I want to keep improving in a technical level. I want to learn some new tricks. Some switches and some double handlepass. Is a hard challenge but I’m going to train hard! I also want to have a better execution in the maneuvers. I’m going to CT for training this winter. Let’s see how it goes!

Are you going to try to get more involved in the North American scene, with BEST being very present there?

- Yes I would really like to. We’ve been waiting until I had 18 years old. Now is the moment to start getting present there together with Best.

Now that BEST US is located in Cape Hatteras, NC, are you thinking of coming to visit? Any plans to try to compete in the Triple S?

- I really like sliders and kickers. I use to skate a lot when I was younger. And I’ve participated in the Red Bull Kite Punks, a big event of this division in Spain. Of course I will visit Cape Hatteras, and about the Triple S I don’t know. Let’s see if they invite me first!

And Happy 18^th birthday a few days in advance! Any big plans for your entry in the “adult” world?

- Thanks!!! I’m so happy I’m turning 18!!! Finally I’ll be able to enter the clubs!!! I’m just joking J  I’m not planning anything special… I wish there will be wind and be able to ride. And at night, a big party!!!
